Chapter 1
Даніель уже засинав, коли задзвонив його телефон.
Daniel was about to fall asleep when his phone rang.
Незнайомий жіночий голос сказав: «Марко, це ти? Будь ласка, не клади слухавку».
An unknown woman's voice said: "Is that you, Marco? Please don't hang up."
Даніель пояснив, що вона помилилася номером, але жінка продовжувала говорити.
Daniel explained that she had the wrong number, but she kept talking.
Вона сказала, що стоїть на вокзалі й запізнилася на останній потяг.
She said she was at the station and had missed the last train.
Ішов дощ, батарея майже сіла, і їй було страшно.
It was raining, her battery was almost dead, and she was scared.

The station was only ten minutes from his flat.
«Чекайте там, — сказав він. — Я йду з парасолькою».
"Wait there," he said. "I'm coming with an umbrella."
Коли він прийшов, на пероні не було нікого, крім жінки в жовтому пальті.
When he arrived, the platform was empty except for one woman in a yellow coat.
Вона обернулася, і Даніель не повірив своїм очам.
She turned around, and Daniel couldn't believe his eyes.

Chapter 3

«Марко — мій брат, — засміялася вона. — Мабуть, я переплутала дві цифри».
"Marco is my brother," she laughed. "I must have mixed up two numbers."
Вони йшли назад під дощем під однією парасолькою й згадували старі часи.
They walked back through the rain under one umbrella, talking about the old days.
Даніель зварив гарячий шоколад, і вони розмовляли, доки не зійшло сонце.
Daniel made hot chocolate, and they talked until the sun came up.
Іноді, думає Даніель, неправильний номер — саме той, що треба.
Sometimes, Daniel thinks, the wrong number is exactly the right one.
