Chapter 1
Щоліта Еліф навідує бабусю в маленькому селі.
Every summer, Elif visits her grandmother in a small village.
Бабуся варить найкращий томатний суп у світі.
Grandma makes the best tomato soup in the world.
Але вона ніколи не каже, що в ньому. «Це секрет», — завжди відповідає вона.
But she never says what is in it. "It's a secret," she always says.
Цього року Еліф вісімнадцять. Нарешті бабуся каже: «Сьогодні ти навчишся».
This year, Elif is eighteen. Grandma finally says: "Today you will learn."
Вони вдягають фартухи й ідуть на кухню.
They put on their aprons and go into the kitchen.

Chapter 2
Спочатку Еліф ріже дві цибулини й три зубчики часнику.

She cries a lot because of the onions. Grandma laughs.
Потім вони обсмажують усе на оливковій олії у великій каструлі.
Then they fry everything in olive oil in a big pot.
Вони додають помідори, воду, сіль і трохи цукру.
They add tomatoes, water, salt and a little sugar.
«А тепер секрет», — шепоче бабуся й відкриває маленьку коробочку.
"And now the secret," Grandma whispers, and opens a small box.

Elif tastes the soup. It tastes exactly like her childhood.
Бабуся записує рецепт на маленькій картці й дає їй.
Grandma writes the recipe on a small card and gives it to her.
«Тепер цей секрет твій. Колись ти навчиш цього своїх онуків».
"Now the secret is yours. One day, you will teach it to your grandchildren."
