Chapter 1
Карім шукав роботу три місяці й нарешті отримав відповідь.
Karim had been looking for a job for three months, and finally he got an answer.
Дизайнерська компанія запрошувала його на співбесіду у вівторок о дев'ятій.
A design company was inviting him to an interview on Tuesday at nine.
Увесь вечір він перечитував свою заяву й досвід роботи.
He spent the whole evening reading his application and his experience again.
У вівторок зранку він одягнув найкращу сорочку й вийшов рано.
On Tuesday morning, he put on his best shirt and left early.
Але в метро якийсь чоловік вилив каву прямо йому на сорочку.
But on the underground, a man spilled his coffee right on his shirt.

Chapter 2
Карім не мав часу повернутися додому й перевдягнутися.
Karim had no time to go home and change.
Він зайшов у компанію з великою коричневою плямою, і серце калатало.
He walked into the company with a big brown stain and his heart beating fast.
У переговорній на нього чекала начальниця: жінка з чашкою кави.
In the meeting room, the boss was waiting for him: a woman holding a cup of coffee.
Вона подивилася на його сорочку й на мить замовкла.
She looked at his shirt and, for a moment, said nothing.
Потім вона засміялася: «Кава в метро? Зі мною таке було минулого тижня!»
Then she started to laugh: “Coffee on the underground? That happened to me last week!”

Chapter 3

Karim talked about his own projects and answered questions about teamwork.
Через два дні задзвонив телефон: його взяли на роботу.
Two days later, his phone rang: he had got the job.
Зарплата була хороша, контракт — безстроковий, а колеги — дуже привітні.
The salary was good, the contract was permanent and his colleagues were very friendly.
Першого дня начальниця подарувала йому чашку з написом «Не для метро».
On his first day, his boss gave him a present: a cup that said “Not for the underground”.
