Chapter 1
Каждое лето Элиф навещает бабушку в маленькой деревне.
Every summer, Elif visits her grandmother in a small village.
Бабушка варит самый вкусный томатный суп на свете.
Grandma makes the best tomato soup in the world.
Но она никогда не говорит, что в нём. «Это секрет», — всегда отвечает она.
But she never says what is in it. "It's a secret," she always says.
В этом году Элиф восемнадцать. Наконец бабушка говорит: «Сегодня ты научишься».
This year, Elif is eighteen. Grandma finally says: "Today you will learn."
Они надевают фартуки и идут на кухню.
They put on their aprons and go into the kitchen.

Chapter 2
Сначала Элиф режет две луковицы и три зубчика чеснока.

Потом они обжаривают всё на оливковом масле в большой кастрюле.
Then they fry everything in olive oil in a big pot.

They add tomatoes, water, salt and a little sugar.
«А теперь секрет», — шепчет бабушка и открывает маленькую коробочку.
"And now the secret," Grandma whispers, and opens a small box.

Grandma writes the recipe on a small card and gives it to her.
«Теперь этот секрет твой. Когда-нибудь ты научишь этому своих внуков».
"Now the secret is yours. One day, you will teach it to your grandchildren."
