Chapter 1
O Karim procurava emprego há três meses e finalmente recebeu uma resposta.
Karim had been looking for a job for three months, and finally he got an answer.
Uma empresa de design convidava-o para uma entrevista na terça-feira às nove.
A design company was inviting him to an interview on Tuesday at nine.
Passou a noite toda a reler a candidatura e a experiência que tinha.
He spent the whole evening reading his application and his experience again.
Na terça de manhã, vestiu a melhor camisa e saiu cedo.
On Tuesday morning, he put on his best shirt and left early.
Mas no metro, um homem entornou o café mesmo em cima da camisa dele.
But on the underground, a man spilled his coffee right on his shirt.

Chapter 2
O Karim não tinha tempo para ir a casa mudar de roupa.
Karim had no time to go home and change.
Entrou na empresa com uma grande nódoa castanha e o coração aos saltos.
He walked into the company with a big brown stain and his heart beating fast.
Na sala de reuniões, a chefe esperava por ele: uma mulher com uma chávena de café.
In the meeting room, the boss was waiting for him: a woman holding a cup of coffee.
Olhou para a camisa dele e, por um momento, não disse nada.
She looked at his shirt and, for a moment, said nothing.
Depois desatou a rir: «Café no metro? Aconteceu-me o mesmo na semana passada!»
Then she started to laugh: “Coffee on the underground? That happened to me last week!”

O salário era bom, o contrato era sem termo e os colegas eram muito simpáticos.
The salary was good, the contract was permanent and his colleagues were very friendly.
No primeiro dia, a chefe ofereceu-lhe uma chávena que dizia «Proibido no metro».
On his first day, his boss gave him a present: a cup that said “Not for the underground”.
