Daniel stava per addormentarsi quando squillò il telefono.
Daniel was about to fall asleep when his phone rang.
Una voce di donna sconosciuta disse: «Sei tu, Marco? Ti prego, non riattaccare.»
An unknown woman's voice said: "Is that you, Marco? Please don't hang up."
Daniel le spiegò che aveva sbagliato numero, ma lei continuò a parlare.
Daniel explained that she had the wrong number, but she kept talking.
Disse che era in stazione e che aveva perso l'ultimo treno.
She said she was at the station and had missed the last train.
Pioveva, la batteria era quasi scarica e lei aveva paura.
It was raining, her battery was almost dead, and she was scared.

She turned around, and Daniel couldn't believe his eyes.

They walked back through the rain under one umbrella, talking about the old days.
Daniel preparò una cioccolata calda e parlarono fino all'alba.
Daniel made hot chocolate, and they talked until the sun came up.
A volte, pensa Daniel, il numero sbagliato è proprio quello giusto.
Sometimes, Daniel thinks, the wrong number is exactly the right one.
