Chapter 1
Mercoledì mattina Leyla si sveglia con un terribile mal di pancia.
On Wednesday morning, Leyla wakes up with a terrible stomach ache.
Ha anche mal di testa e un po' di febbre.
She also has a headache and a little fever.
Chiama lo studio medico e prende un appuntamento alle dieci.
She calls the doctor's surgery and gets an appointment at ten.
Nella sala d'attesa ci sono molte persone che tossiscono.
In the waiting room, there are many people coughing.
Leyla aspetta quasi un'ora. Si sente sempre peggio.
Leyla waits for almost an hour. She feels worse and worse.

«Che cosa ha mangiato ieri?» chiede.
"What did you eat yesterday?" she asks.
Leyla ci pensa. «A pranzo una minestra e la sera... un piatto enorme di funghi.»
Leyla thinks. "Soup for lunch, and in the evening... a big plate of mushrooms."
«Da dove venivano i funghi?» chiede la dottoressa.
"Where did the mushrooms come from?" asks the doctor.
«Dal bosco. Li ha raccolti il mio vicino.»
"From the forest. My neighbour picked them."

Dà a Leyla una ricetta per una medicina.
She gives Leyla a prescription for some medicine.
«Beva molta acqua, mangi solo riso e si riposi per due giorni.»
"Drink a lot of water, eat only rice and rest for two days."
Tornando a casa, Leyla chiama il vicino: «Basta funghi, per favore!»
On the way home, Leyla calls her neighbour: "No more mushrooms, please!"
