Chapter 1
Karim cherchait du travail depuis trois mois, et il a enfin reçu une réponse.
Karim had been looking for a job for three months, and finally he got an answer.
Une agence de design l'invitait à un entretien mardi à neuf heures.
A design company was inviting him to an interview on Tuesday at nine.
Il a passé toute la soirée à relire sa candidature et son expérience.
He spent the whole evening reading his application and his experience again.
Mardi matin, il a mis sa plus belle chemise et il est parti tôt.
On Tuesday morning, he put on his best shirt and left early.
Mais dans le métro, un homme a renversé son café juste sur sa chemise.
But on the underground, a man spilled his coffee right on his shirt.

Chapter 2
Karim n'avait pas le temps de rentrer se changer.
Karim had no time to go home and change.
Il est entré dans l'entreprise avec une grosse tache marron et le cœur battant.
He walked into the company with a big brown stain and his heart beating fast.
Dans la salle de réunion, la patronne l'attendait : une femme avec une tasse de café.
In the meeting room, the boss was waiting for him: a woman holding a cup of coffee.
Elle a regardé sa chemise et, pendant un instant, n'a rien dit.
She looked at his shirt and, for a moment, said nothing.
Puis elle s'est mise à rire : « Du café dans le métro ? Ça m'est arrivé la semaine dernière ! »
Then she started to laugh: “Coffee on the underground? That happened to me last week!”

Chapter 3

Karim talked about his own projects and answered questions about teamwork.
Deux jours plus tard, son téléphone a sonné : il avait obtenu le poste.
Two days later, his phone rang: he had got the job.
Le salaire était bon, le contrat était un CDI et les collègues étaient très sympathiques.
The salary was good, the contract was permanent and his colleagues were very friendly.
Le premier jour, sa patronne lui a offert une tasse avec l'inscription « Pas dans le métro ».
On his first day, his boss gave him a present: a cup that said “Not for the underground”.
