Chapter 1
كان دانيال على وشك أن ينام عندما رنّ هاتفه.
Daniel was about to fall asleep when his phone rang.
قال صوت امرأة غريبة: «هل هذا أنت يا ماركو؟ أرجوك لا تُغلق الخط.»
An unknown woman's voice said: "Is that you, Marco? Please don't hang up."
أوضح دانيال أنها اتصلت بالرقم الخطأ، لكنها استمرت في الكلام.
Daniel explained that she had the wrong number, but she kept talking.
قالت إنها في المحطة وإنها فاتها آخر قطار.
She said she was at the station and had missed the last train.
كانت السماء تمطر، وبطاريتها على وشك النفاد، وكانت خائفة.
It was raining, her battery was almost dead, and she was scared.

قال: «انتظري هناك. أنا قادم بمظلة.»
"Wait there," he said. "I'm coming with an umbrella."
عندما وصل، كان الرصيف خاليًا إلا من امرأة ترتدي معطفًا أصفر.
When he arrived, the platform was empty except for one woman in a yellow coat.
التفتت، ولم يصدّق دانيال عينيه.
She turned around, and Daniel couldn't believe his eyes.

"Marco is my brother," she laughed. "I must have mixed up two numbers."
عادا سيرًا تحت المطر بمظلة واحدة، يتحدثان عن الأيام الخوالي.
They walked back through the rain under one umbrella, talking about the old days.
أعدّ دانيال شوكولاتة ساخنة، وتحدثا حتى طلعت الشمس.
Daniel made hot chocolate, and they talked until the sun came up.
يفكّر دانيال أحيانًا أن الرقم الخطأ هو بالضبط الرقم الصحيح.
Sometimes, Daniel thinks, the wrong number is exactly the right one.
