Chapter 1
كان كريم يبحث عن عمل منذ ثلاثة أشهر، وأخيرًا تلقّى ردًّا.
Karim had been looking for a job for three months, and finally he got an answer.
كانت شركة تصميم تدعوه إلى مقابلة يوم الثلاثاء في الساعة التاسعة.
A design company was inviting him to an interview on Tuesday at nine.
قضى المساء كله يعيد قراءة طلبه وخبراته.
He spent the whole evening reading his application and his experience again.
صباح الثلاثاء، ارتدى أفضل قميص لديه وخرج مبكرًا.
On Tuesday morning, he put on his best shirt and left early.
لكن في المترو، سكب رجل قهوته على قميصه تمامًا.
But on the underground, a man spilled his coffee right on his shirt.

Chapter 2
لم يكن لدى كريم وقت ليعود إلى البيت ويبدّل ملابسه.
Karim had no time to go home and change.
دخل الشركة وعلى قميصه بقعة بنية كبيرة وقلبه يخفق بسرعة.
He walked into the company with a big brown stain and his heart beating fast.
في غرفة الاجتماعات، كانت المديرة تنتظره: امرأة تحمل فنجان قهوة.
In the meeting room, the boss was waiting for him: a woman holding a cup of coffee.
نظرت إلى قميصه ولم تقل شيئًا للحظة.
She looked at his shirt and, for a moment, said nothing.
ثم بدأت تضحك: «قهوة في المترو؟ حدث لي ذلك الأسبوع الماضي!»
Then she started to laugh: “Coffee on the underground? That happened to me last week!”

Chapter 3

Karim talked about his own projects and answered questions about teamwork.
بعد يومين، رنّ هاتفه: لقد حصل على الوظيفة.
Two days later, his phone rang: he had got the job.
كان الراتب جيدًا، والعقد دائمًا، والزملاء ودودين جدًا.
The salary was good, the contract was permanent and his colleagues were very friendly.
في يومه الأول، أهدته مديرته فنجانًا مكتوبًا عليه «ممنوع في المترو».
On his first day, his boss gave him a present: a cup that said “Not for the underground”.
