Chapter 1
كانت صوفيا وماكس يبحثان منذ أسابيع عن شقة بسعر معقول في وسط المدينة.
Sofia and Max had been looking for an affordable flat in the city centre for weeks.
في إحدى الأمسيات وجدا إعلانًا لا يُصدَّق: ثلاث غرف وشرفة كبيرة وإيجار منخفض جدًا.
One evening they found an incredible advert: three rooms with a big balcony, and very low rent.
قال ماكس: «لا بد أن هناك مشكلة. لا يمكن أن تكون رخيصة إلى هذا الحد.»
“There must be a problem,” said Max. “It can't be this cheap.”
ومع ذلك، اتصلا بالمالك وحدّدا موعدًا لمعاينة الشقة في اليوم التالي.
Still, they called the landlord and arranged a viewing for the next day.
فتح المالك، السيد روسي، الباب بابتسامة عريضة.
The landlord, Mr Rossi, opened the door with a huge smile.

Chapter 2
كانت الشقة جميلة حقًا: مطبخ مضيء وأثاث جديد وتدفئة جيدة.
The flat really was beautiful: a bright kitchen, new furniture and good heating.
ثم جاء صوت غريب من الشرفة: «مرحبًا! مرحبًا! هل توجد قهوة؟»
Then a strange voice came from the balcony: “Hello! Hello! Any coffee?”
على الشرفة كان يجلس ببغاء أخضر كبير.
On the balcony sat a big green parrot.
قال السيد روسي: «هذا باكو. عمره أربعون عامًا ويرفض مغادرة هذه الشقة.»
“This is Paco,” said Mr Rossi. “He's forty years old and refuses to leave this flat.”
«إذا اعتنى به المستأجرون، يبقى الإيجار منخفضًا.»
“If the tenants look after him, the rent stays low.”

Chapter 3
نظرت صوفيا وماكس إلى بعضهما وقالا في الوقت نفسه: «اتفقنا!»
Sofia and Max looked at each other and said at the same time: “Deal!”
دفعا التأمين وانتقلا بعد أسبوع.
They paid the deposit and moved in a week later.
كل صباح في السادسة، كان باكو يوقظهما صائحًا: «صباح الخير! قهوة!»
Every morning at six, Paco woke them up shouting: “Good morning! Coffee!”
في البداية كان ذلك يجنّنهما، لكنهما اعتادا عليه شيئًا فشيئًا.
At first it drove them crazy, but little by little they got used to him.
الآن يعرفهما الجيران باسم «الزوجان صاحبا الببغاء».
Now the neighbours know them as “the couple with the parrot”.
