Chapter 1
Mercredi matin, Leyla se réveille avec un terrible mal de ventre.
On Wednesday morning, Leyla wakes up with a terrible stomach ache.
Elle a aussi mal à la tête et un peu de fièvre.
She also has a headache and a little fever.
Elle appelle le cabinet médical et obtient un rendez-vous à dix heures.
She calls the doctor's surgery and gets an appointment at ten.
Dans la salle d'attente, beaucoup de gens toussent.
In the waiting room, there are many people coughing.
Leyla attend presque une heure. Elle se sent de plus en plus mal.
Leyla waits for almost an hour. She feels worse and worse.

"What did you eat yesterday?" she asks.
Leyla réfléchit. « De la soupe à midi, et le soir... une grande assiette de champignons. »
Leyla thinks. "Soup for lunch, and in the evening... a big plate of mushrooms."
« D'où venaient les champignons ? » demande la médecin.
"Where did the mushrooms come from?" asks the doctor.
« De la forêt. C'est mon voisin qui les a cueillis. »
"From the forest. My neighbour picked them."

Elle donne à Leyla une ordonnance pour un médicament.
She gives Leyla a prescription for some medicine.
« Buvez beaucoup d'eau, mangez seulement du riz et reposez-vous deux jours. »

En rentrant, Leyla appelle son voisin : « Plus de champignons, s'il te plaît ! »
On the way home, Leyla calls her neighbour: "No more mushrooms, please!"
