Chapter 1
Dimanche, c'est l'anniversaire de sa mère, et Jonas n'a toujours pas de cadeau.
It's Mum's birthday on Sunday, and Jonas still doesn't have a present.
Il n'a que quarante euros, alors il va au centre commercial.
He has only forty euros, so he goes to the shopping centre.
Dans le premier magasin, une belle écharpe coûte soixante euros. Trop cher !
In the first shop, a beautiful scarf costs sixty euros. Too expensive!
Dans le deuxième magasin, les chemises ne sont pas chères, mais sa mère n'aime pas cette couleur.
In the second shop, the shirts are cheap, but Mum doesn't like that colour.
Jonas est fatigué et un peu triste. Que peut-il acheter ?
Jonas is tired and a bit sad. What can he buy?

Chapter 3

Dimanche, sa mère ouvre le cadeau et ne dit rien.
On Sunday, Mum opens the present and doesn't say anything.
Puis elle ouvre le livre et trouve son propre nom à l'intérieur : c'est son ancien livre !
Then she opens the book and finds her own name inside: it is her old book!
Sa mère pleure et rit en même temps. C'est le plus beau cadeau du monde.
Mum cries and laughs at the same time. It's the best present ever.
