Chapter 1
عيد ميلاد أمّه يوم الأحد، وما زال يوناس لا يملك هدية.
It's Mum's birthday on Sunday, and Jonas still doesn't have a present.
لديه أربعون يورو فقط، لذلك يذهب إلى المركز التجاري.
He has only forty euros, so he goes to the shopping centre.
في المتجر الأول، يكلّف وشاح جميل ستين يورو. غالٍ جدًا!
In the first shop, a beautiful scarf costs sixty euros. Too expensive!
في المتجر الثاني، القمصان رخيصة، لكن أمه لا تحب ذلك اللون.
In the second shop, the shirts are cheap, but Mum doesn't like that colour.
يوناس متعب وحزين قليلًا. ماذا يمكنه أن يشتري؟
Jonas is tired and a bit sad. What can he buy?

Chapter 2

In the window there is an old cookbook with a green cover.
يتذكّر يوناس: كان لأمه الكتاب نفسه عندما كان طفلًا.
Jonas remembers: Mum had the same book when he was a child.
فقدته عندما انتقلوا من البيت.
She lost it when they moved house.
يسأل الرجل العجوز عند المنضدة: «كم ثمن هذا الكتاب؟»
"How much is this book?" he asks the old man at the counter.

Chapter 3

"Fifteen euros," says the man. Jonas pays with a big smile.
ببقية المال، يشتري زهورًا وورق تغليف.
With the rest of the money, he buys flowers and wrapping paper.
يوم الأحد، تفتح أمه الهدية ولا تقول شيئًا.
On Sunday, Mum opens the present and doesn't say anything.
ثم تفتح الكتاب وتجد اسمها مكتوبًا فيه: إنه كتابها القديم!
Then she opens the book and finds her own name inside: it is her old book!
تبكي أمه وتضحك في الوقت نفسه. إنها أفضل هدية على الإطلاق.
Mum cries and laughs at the same time. It's the best present ever.
